SUPPORT

DONATIONS

Conservation work in the Park requires resources that are always limited. If you would like to support our project, we would be grateful for a donation.

These donations directly finance the monitoring of the Park’s conservation targets, the management of recognized threats, and the maintenance of the network of trails, environmental information, and signage. (Salaries and supplies are covered by the membership fees of the members of Parque Ahuenco.)

If you want to support with donations, we invite you to contact our administration.

VOLUNTEERING

Over the years the Ahuenco Park has received many volunteers. There are periods when we need volunteers to help in all areas, and there are periods when will need volunteers for specific tasks. If you are interested in volunteering please ask us beforehand which type of work we need during the period you are interested in visiting. Contact hola@ahuenco.cl to indicate your dates of availability, interest and skills.

INTERNSHIPS

In 2001, during the early days and after we had “settled” in Ahuenco, “Profesor Alberto” (Carvacho) recruited, among his students and assistants of the Zoology and the Flora and Fauna courses offered by the Engineering in Renewable Natural Resources career of the University of Chile, the first volunteers to help with various tasks needed in the Park. Several of them carried out field work, providing information for the construction of a first baseline of the Ahuenco ecosystems.

Others went to help with the administration of the campsite and the maintenance of the trails. And a smaller number, encouraged by those who were leaving to work in Ahuenco, took time out in the summer to “take off” to Ahuenco as tourists, to see their fellow classmates.

Since 2018 we have hosted the internships of more than 40 students who come from different disciplines. Internships last a minimum period of 60 days, during which we provide food and accommodation. Most students are training to be natural resources engineers, park ranger technicians, forestry and environmental engineers, and ecotourism, adventure tourism, and tourism administration.
